Most Indiana fans and college coaches are getting to know Indianapolis Tindley guard Eric Hunter. There is another 2018 prospect on Tindley's roster that will turn heads, Hunter White. Here's a look at Hunter White.
Hunter White is a relative unknown at this point. He missed the 2014-2015 high school season due to a knee injury. He broke the bone underneath his kneecap.
“I was actually training, doing box jumps and I jumped up and felt a pop,” said Hunter White. “I woke up the next morning and it was swollen.” That led to a doctor appointment that determined his injury.
White was not fully healthy until June. He played the travel season with Lafayette-based travel team Indiana Ice. White looks ready to break on the scene this high school season.
Hunter White is a lefty with quickness off the dribble. During a recent open gym, he was creating opportunities for himself and teammates on nearly every possession. It was impressive because he was going up against his classmate Eric Hunter.
“He (Eric Hunter) is one of the best guards if not the best guard in our class so going at him every practice is really great, it helps me get better,” said Hunter White.
Those two players having each other to compete against is huge for their development. They will be pushed each day in practice and become better because of it. That should be a major advantage to White's long-term potential.
White seems to have a solid understanding of the game. He is comfortable attacking without getting out of control. When help side defenders come to stop him on drives, White has no problem finding his open teammates and getting them the ball in a scoring position.
Hunter White is unknown right now but that will change quickly. He has Division I potential as he enters his sophomore season.
