Carroll forward Kyle Mallers verbally committed to Ball State on Thursday evening. The 2016 prospect took an official visit to Ball State last week before deciding it was the place for him. Here is more on Mallers.
Kyle Mallers is a 6-foot-7 forward from Fort Wayne's Carroll High School. He played his travel basketball with Spiece Indy Heat. He averaged just under 10 points per game on the Nike EYBL circuit for the Indy Heat. He also grabbed six rebounds each contest.
Mallers is known as a shooter with size. He only shot 17-65 (26%) from three-point range in EYBL play. He started off slowly before shooting 37% from three in his last nine games. His form should allow him to have much better results long-term.
During his high school career, Mallers has shown the ability to handle the ball quite well for a player of his size. He will not be bringing the ball up the court against pressure for Ball State but he will be able to help alleviate pressure. he should be able to get to the basket off the dribble once in awhile.
Mallers had scholarship offers from Indiana State, IUPUI, Ole Miss and Toledo before selecting Ball State.
