Jaren Jackson Jr. announced on Wednesday evening that he will be spending his senior year at La Lumiere School in LaPorte, Indiana. Jackson is a major recruit that spent his first three years of high school at Park Tudor. Here's more on his transfer.
Since the end of the high school season, there have been rumors about Jaren Jackson Jr. leaving Indianapolis for his senior year of high school. That became a reality on Wednesday as Jackson announced via Instagram that he would be attending La Lumiere this upcoming year.
La Lumiere is a prep school that caters to high school students in northwest Indiana. The school has become a national power in basketball over the last five years. They played in the Dick's National Championship game this past season with mostly underclassmen.
Shane Heirman has a loaded team expected to be at La Lumiere this year. Center Jeremiah Tilmon committed to Illinois last week. Milwaukee guard Jordan Poole said that he will attend LaLu this year. Poole is committed to Michigan. They have top 25 prospect Brian Bowen on the wing as well. Then thrown in 2019 point guard Tyger Campbell, who can run and set-up a team like a savvy veteran, and you have a stacked team that can compete with anyone. La Lumiere will be bringing D1 recruits off the bench this year.
Jackson will get to face 6-foot-11 Jeremiah Tilmon in practice and work outs. That can only help Jackson's development. Practice time is where players can advance their skills.
Staying in Indiana will keep the Midwest schools like Purdue, Michigan State, Indiana and others squarely in the recruiting picture. That might have changed if he went to an East Coast school like Oak Hill Academy.
