Castle’s Jack Nunge, who is one of the top prospects in Indiana, committed to Iowa after an official visit to the Big Ten school.
Nunge was offered by Iowa on September 22, 2015. Over the last year, Iowa has made Nunge a top priority. They were at every game that he played in Kansas City at the end of July. Their efforts paid off when Nunge committed on Sunday evening.
The 2017 prospect received about a dozen offers. There is a lot of upside with Nunge. He has progressed well over the last two years. He has become more aggressive in the paint. His shooting ability has always been his best quality along with his size. Nunge’s shooting has continued to improve with the rest of his game.
The college and pro games are placing a bigger emphasis on power forwards that can switch all perimeter screens. Nunge is agile enough to switch and not allow a layup off of a straight line drive. That adds to his attractiveness as a prospect.
Nunge is the second commitment of the weekend for Iowa. Center Luka Garza committed to Iowa on Saturday. Garza isn’t the athlete that Nunge is, but he is a larger player. It will be interesting to see if the Hawkeyes play the two together.
There is no doubt that Nunge will add muscle under Iowa’s strength program. If he embraces and adjusts to the physicality of the Big Ten, Jack Nunge will have a very good career at Iowa.
