Over the weekend, Butler University landed a verbal commitment from Vermont Academy's Christian David. The Canadian native is the fourth member of Butler's 2017 recruiting class.
Christian David is a top 100 prospect in the 2017 class. He's a guard with good size at 6-foot-5-plus. His shooting is the best attribute that he is bringing to Butler. David is an excellent spot-up shooter. Butler is bringing in a couple of players in the 2017 class that can stretch the defense in David and Cooper Neese. Kyle Young is also a threat from the outside from the stretch-four position.
Butler is upgrading its size at the guard positions with David, Jerad Butler and Cooper Neese. All three are big, strong guards that can handle the ball. It will be fun to see how the roles shake out between that group along with current freshmen Kamar Baldwin and Henry Baddley. The last two recruiting classes have definitely increased the roster talent in a major way.
David took official visits to Oregon and Pittsburgh along with Butler before selecting the Bulldogs. Butler is working hard to land point guard Wabissa Bede in the 2017 class as well. Bede would give Butler a true point guard with great size like the other guards in the recruiting class.
