Matt Jennings, a point guard from Logansport High School, committed to Grace College on Monday evening.
Jennings is one of the top scorers in the 2017 class around Indiana. Jennings has 1,260 career points entering his senior year. He averaged 23 points per game as a junior while Logansport went 15-9. There is no doubt that he will be able to put up points at Grace College as well.
Grace plays in vaunted Crossroads League at the NAIA level. The Crossroads League has produced seven national titles in basketball with Indiana Wesleyan winning two in the last three years. It is an incredible conference from top to bottom.
Grace is off to a 2-0 start this year. The Lancers went 21-14 a season ago. Grace brought in a strong recruiting class in 2016 with Charlie Warner, Braxton Linville and Jaret Sons. They are also redshirting Martin Schiele from Bowman Academy. With that group plus Jennings and Haden Deaton in 2017, Grace has a great core of skilled athletes. Jennings and Deaton won a bunch of games for Grassroots Indiana the last two summers.
Jennings has the quickness to get to the paint on nearly every possession. That has led to a healthy portion of his points at the high school level. He's also a 40% from three-point range over his high school career. During his junior year, Jennings went 54-131 from beyond the arc. His scoring versatility makes him really tough to defend.
Matt Jennings should have an excellent career at Grace College.
