Scouting Report | Baker is a quick, lefty point guard. He is extremely tough when he is getting into the lane. He has a variety of dribble moves to beat his defender and also has a nice floater to finish when he is in the lane. His biggest weaknesses are his height and his outside shooting. He settles and forces too many outside shots for his shooting ability.
vs. Lake Central one of the better games I have seen from Baker this season. Lake Central dared Baker to shoot the ball. He answered by going 5-8 from the field for 13 points. I do not see Baker as a D1 prospect.
vs. Chatard I had Baker 1-6 from the field for 2 points with 2 assists and a turnover. Baker must just play poorly when I am at the game since he is starting over Garrett Hall now. He could not get a shot to fall against Chatard. He was wide open for most of them. He didn't have any problems with turnovers, but Chatard does not pressure very much.
vs. Indianapolis Tech not Baker's best game. His shot selection was not very good. He was just 2-7 from the field with 3 turnovers.
vs. Northwest struggled with his passing. He had just 2 turnovers, but a couple other passes should have been intercepted and went through the defender's hands. He had 8 points. With his height, I think he is going to end up being a small college prospect unless he just dominates this spring and summer..
vs. Guerin he is buying into the true point guard role that Cathedral wants him to play. He is lightning quick, and has really improved his outside shot. His height is a weakness though. I'm interested to see what type of season Baker has this season. He had to sit out all of last year after he transferred from Indianapolis Northwest.
