La Lumiere and Indy Heat point guard Tyger Campbell announced his commitment to DePaul University today.
Tyger Campbell visited DePaul over the weekend. He was not with Indy Heat at the Bill Hensley Memorial Run 'N Slam. The visit apparently went well as Campbell announced his commitment to the Big East school on Twitter Monday evening.
DePaul recently hired Shane Heirman as an assistant coach. He was the head coach at La Lumiere School before taking the position with DePaul. Heirman coached Campbell, along with top DePaul target Brian Bowen, to the Dick's National title this season. They beat Wasatch Academy, Findlay Prep and Montverde Academy to capture the championship.
Campbell intends to move from the 2019 class to 2018. There has been speculation that Campbell was going to move into the 2018 class throughout the last year.
Campbell is a heady point guard that plays with tremendous poise. He played on the Nike EYBL as a sophomore last year and was not overwhelmed one bit. He's not a player that blows by defenders off of pure quickness/speed. He picks his spots and situations to push edges. He has become a solid three-point shooter, but his most valuable skills are his leadership and passing.
DePaul has Indiana natives Jaylen Butz and Justin Roberts signed in the 2017 class.
