Brent Calhoun (2012) announced on Twitter Friday night that he committed to Detroit. In our Warren Central Open Gym Report, we stated that Calhoun was close to making a decision and that proved to be correct. The 6'8" post player is not an explosive athlete, but his offensive game has improved steadily over the past few years. Calhoun's shot blocking ability is one of his greatest strengths. He has great timing while blocking shots.

Thursday night, Greg Gardner committed to Division II University of Alabama-Huntsville. The 6'4 guard from Chatard had offers from University of Indianapolis, St. Joe's College, and Hillsdale. Gardner had a really impressive summer that drew him some Division I interest. With a good high school season, he could have picked up a D-1 offer, but he decided to commit to the D-2 Alabama-Huntsville instead of waiting.

Mack Mercer 6'8" C Plymouth 2014 had Purdue in an open gym this week. He also said that Xavier said that they will be coming to a workout soon.

Leo Svete 6'4" SG Penn 2013 has had Northern Illinois and Western Michigan in during workouts so far. He expects BYU to come next week while Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest have expressed interest in coming to see him sometime soon.

Cole Murray 6'6" PF Delphi 2013 had American watch him Thursday. He has an offer from them.

Joe Retic 6'3" SG Fishers 2012 had Eastern Illinois in to see him Thursday. He has offers from Morehead State and James Madison.

Jaylon Brown 6'0" PG Fishers 2013 has had American, Butler, Evansville, Indiana State, Loyola, and Ohio in so far. Xavier, Dayton, and Cincinnati are supposed to be coming to a workout soon.

Perry Poindexter, Jr. 6'7" PF North Central 2014 had Iowa in last week and Xavier is expected Wednesday. He commented that Purdue and Xavier have been recruiting him the hardest so far. {/iACL}
