Bloomington High School North’s Musa Jallow committed to Ohio State Friday evening. The biggest news is that he is reclassifying to the 2017 class and enrolling in August.
The wing was recruited heavily throughout his high school career while Chris Holtmann was at Butler. The relationship paid off as the Buckeyes land Jallow. Chris Holtmann offered Musa Jallow a scholarship a year ago while Holtmann was at Butler. Ohio State has carried over many of the same recruiting targets Holtmann and his staff had at Butler. Ohio State has offered players like Robert Phinisee and Eric Hunter along with now landing Jallow.
Jallow is a wing with good size (6’4”+) and strength. He’s a straight-line driver that will finish through contact in the paint because of his strength, athleticism and body control. Jallow has been a good rebounder throughout his high school career. He is a threat to get a tip dunk on every missed shot.
With his 6’8” wingspan, strength and athleticism, Jallow has the potential to be a very good defender at the next level. He has been a better help side shot blocker than on-ball defender in high school. I expect him to develop as a defender in Holtmann’s program.
Musa Jallow was recruited by many high-academic schools – Vanderbilt, Stanford, Northwestern. In-state schools Indiana, Butler and Purdue had offers out to Jallow as well. Oregon piqued his interest in the last few months, but the Ducks did not see him enough to offer Jallow a scholarship.
Jallow adds depth to a roster that was depleted by transfers before and after the firing of Thad Matta. He joins Kaleb Wesson and Kyle Young in Ohio State's 2017 class.
