Evansvill Bosse and Indiana Elite 2018 guard Mekhi Lairy committed to Miami of Ohio Sunday.
Lairy put up big numbers as a junior at Bosse. He averaged 23 points on 44% from three-point range. He averaged eight assists per game for the uptempo Bosse Bulldogs. His recruitment didn't get rolling until June, though. In June, he picked up offers from Miami, Southern Illinois at Edwardsville and Tennessee-Martin. He originally planned to commit Wednesday but decided to play the first evaluation period before committing.
Lairy joins Indiana natives Nike Sibande, Jalen Adaway, Isaiah Coleman-Lands, KJ Walton and Darrian Ringo. Jack Owens has raided Indiana since taking over the RedHawks in the spring. They are making the state a priority.
Lairy went 8-17 at the adidas Finale this week to bump his three-point percentage to 38% on the circuit. He played well in every game in South Carolina except for his 0-6 performance against EG10.
Lairy will finish up the summer on the West Coast. Indiana Elite 2018 will play in LA then Las Vegas.
