Indiana went on a recruiting spree in the last few hours. South Bend's Damezi Anderson, Ohio's Jerome Hunter and Minnesota's Race Thompson all committed to Indiana University. Thompson will reclassify to 2017.
Archie Miller is off to a fast start on the recruiting trail. The Hoosiers had a great recruiting run by receiving commitments from Anderson, Hunter and Thompson. Race Thompson is a power forward that averaged 13 points and 6.0 rebounds per game for D1 Minnesota on the adidas Gauntlet. He is arriving on the Bloomington campus this fall. He adds depth to the Indiana front court.
Damezi Anderson has been putting up huge numbers for South Bend Riley since entering high school. He led Riley to the Semi-State as a freshman before losing to Caleb Swanigan and Homestead. He has scored1,432 points in three seasons at Riley. At 6-foot-5, Anderson has size to be a wing at the high major level. He has shown the abiity to guard bigger and stronger opponents on the Nike EYBL with MeanStreets as well. He'll bring defensive versatility and floor spacing on the offensive end.
Jerome Hunter was good last year. He was tremendous at the Bill Hensley Run 'N Slam Memorial tournament in May. He's 6-6 with great handles. He's a very good all-around athlete as well. His shot is flat, but the form is good otherwise. Hunter is a dynamic player that has a lot of upside.
This run of commitments for Indiana is quite impressive. The attention of the Indiana staff has to be on the point guard position now. That will be the weakest position on the Indiana roster. The Hoosiers have been recruiting Darius Garland and Robert Phinisee at the lead guard position. Garland was offered by Kentucky over the weekend.
