Indianapolis Howe forward Tony Hopkins committed to the University of New Orleans Monday. The 2018 prospect also considered Ball State before making his college decision.
Hopkins has been a player that has propelled his teams to victories throughout his high school career through his energy and toughness. He helped Indianapolis Howe to an appearance in the state finals as a sophomore. He did most of the dirty work for a highly successful Indiana Elite 2018 team over the last two travel seasons as well. Hopkins posted excellent rebounding numbers, especially for his size, on the adidas Gauntlet.
In June, Hopkins showed an improved offensive skill set with Howe. He made more plays off the dribble and hit more mid-range shots. If he continues to make strides as a driver and playmaker, Hopkins will create many mismatches at the University of New Orleans.
Tony Hopkins is the first player in the UNO's 2018 recruiting class. Hopkins is the first Indiana native to play at New Orleans since Indianapolis Tech alum Isaac Mack. Mack averaged 8.6 points per game as a senior for New Orleans in 2014.
