2019 Lawrence Central forward Jacob LaRavia committed to Southern Illinois-Edwardsville Monday evening.
After taking official visits to SIU-e, Jacksonville, and Evansville before verbally committing to Edwardsville. Over the weekend, LaRavia had his official visit to Evansville. The Aces didn't offer LaRavia until October and the late effort wasn't enough to win over the sweet-shooting forward.
LaRavia averaged 5.2 points and 3.5 rebounds off the bench for Lawrence Central as a junior. In April, he burst on the scene with monster performances at the IndyBall tournament. He was consistent throughout the travel season which brought his first scholarship offers in July. SIU-Edwardsville offered in September and won him over.
Here's an update from LaRavia prior to his official visit to Evansville. Loyola's interest didn't progress enough to make LaRavia push back his decision.
LaRavia is the first Indiana native to commit to SIU-e since Keenan Simmons. The Michigan City native played for the Cougars from 2014-2018.
SIU-e plays in the Ohio Valley Conference.
