2019 Brownsburg guard Cameron Alford committed to Alabama A&M Wednesday.
Alford received an offer from the D1 school a few weeks ago then took an official visit to A&M last weekend. He decided to commit to the SWAC program after the visit. He joins Indianapolis Manual's Jalen Johnson in A&M's 2019 recruiting class.
Alford is having a strong senior year. He's a tough, strong point guard that knows how to score going to the paint. For his career, he has over 1,300 points. He's also an excellent leader in the style of a coach on the court. Alford is going to play defense, be a vocal leader, and execute the game plan.
Next year, Alford should have a chance to start or play major minutes. A&M should return a couple guards, but Alford has the talent to slide into the rotation. Over his career, Alford's biggest deficiencies were outside shooting and turnovers. A&M doesn't look for the three much, and the returning guards have struggled with turnovers as well. So, Alford should find early minutes.
If they put in the work, Cameron Alford and Jalen Johnson should be able to improve Alabama A&M early in their careers. The Bulldogs are currently 5-20 and haven't had a winning conference record since 2013-2014. Alford and Johnson should provide an immediate talent upgrade.
