Southport graduate Joey Brunk has decided to graduate and transfer from Butler University this spring. Brunk had a breakout redshirt sophomore year for the Bulldogs. (Pictured: high school Joey Brunk)
Brunk was fantastic to start the year for Butler. His paint scoring led to more minutes as the season developed. He only played 7.6% of the minutes as a redshirt freshman. That jumped to 46.1% this year as he proved that he could score on the block and around the rim. He was also tough on the offensive glass.
Brunk averaged 7.6 points and 3.6 rebounds on 62% shooting from the field this season.
Out of high school, Brunk committed to Chris Holtmann and played for him before redshirting due to a family hardship. He was offered by most of the Big Ten before he committed to Butler – Indiana, Purdue, Michigan State, Illinois, Northwestern, Oklahoma, Xavier, and more offered.
After a strong season, Brunk will be a highly regarded grad transfer. He’ll have two years left to play.
