2020 guard Johnell Davis has committed to Florida Atlantic University. He took an official visit to the school in the spring.
Nelly Davis had a great spring and summer for Indy Heat in the Nike EYBL. Davis averaged 8.2 points per game in 19 contests for the Indy Heat on the circuit. He also averaged 7.8 rebounds per game. With the size in the EYBL, that's a ridiculous feat for a six-foot-four guard.
Before picking the Owls, he had offers from FAU, Kent State, and Northern Illinois. More schools would have jumped in the race this fall, but Davis decided it was time to commit.
"It was just time for me to commit," Davis told Indiana Basketball Source. "They treat their team good, and I'm going to play right away."
Florida Atlantic is coached by Dusty May. He was a student manager at Indiana University. FAU also added Indiana native Todd Abernethy to the coaching staff in the spring.
As a junior, Davis led Gary 21st Century to a sectional title before giving class A state champs Blackhawk Christian a run for their money in the regional. He averaged 25 points and 10 rebounds for the season. Davis and Triyonte Lomax will make 21st Century one of the top class A teams again this season.
