We had a chance to talk to 2014 forward Aaron Brennan Wednesday night. Here is what he had to say about his game and his current recruitment...
What are your thoughts on your IUPUI Offer?
AB: It’s pretty cool since it’s my first offer and everything. To get the opportunity to play Division 1 basketball is pretty cool. To get that first offer was really cool in my mind.
Were you anxious or frustrated about not getting an offer until now?
AB: Honestly no, because I didn’t think I would get an offer my sophomore year. To actually get an offer my sophomore year was pretty cool.
What schools are you currently hearing from?
AB: The schools I’m hearing from are Michigan, Purdue, Indiana, Indiana State, Iowa, Loyola, Xavier, Butler, and Notre Dame
Will you be attending any elite camps?
AB: I got a letter from Butler about elite camp. I went to Purdue’s at the start of the school year.
What colleges have you visited so far?
AB: I have visited Michigan, IU, Purdue, Butler, and Iowa
Have you started to think about college yet?
AB: Not really, just being so young still. I just want to get a good education. I can only play basketball for so long, so I want to make sure that I get a good education.
Do you think you would commit to a college early?
AB: I’m not really sure, I would probably wait a little bit more. I would sit down with my high school coach and my AAU coach to get their opinion on it and everything.
You look taller than you were in November, have you grown a lot?
AB: Yeah, I had growing pains throughout the high school year. I’ve also had my weight go up and down, but I’ve lost 20 pounds since last year.
Are you more athletic because of your weight loss?
AB: Yeah, I think so. I feel quicker on my feet now that I’ve lost that weight. I can play pretty much every position except point guard now.
Do you think you will grow more?
AB: Not really sure, but I had to get x-rays during the school year because I twisted my ankle and they said my growth plates were still open. They said I could grow anywhere from 0 to 4 more inches.
What part of your game are you looking to improve?
AB: I’m working on everything right now, but conditioning and defense mostly because I’m not used to defending on the perimeter yet. So, I would say I’m working on everything but mainly those two things.
What position do you see yourself playing in college?
AB: Probably small forward, but it depends on how much I grow though.
