Ryan Fazekas is a 6-7, small forward from Michigan City Marquette High School in northwest Indiana. The current freshman is drawing a lot of attention from college coaches already due to his shooting ability and his 6'7" frame. Fazekas was scheduled to play with Meanstreets this weekend at the adidas Spring Classic, but now he will be travelling with the 2014 Meanstreets group to the Boo Williams tournament. Here is a recap of our chat.
Do you have any offers?
RF: Yeah, Valpo University.
Who are you hearing from so far?
RF: Right now, Michigan State, Michigan, Indiana, Xavier, Ohio State, Illinois, Purdue.
Have you had a chance to visit anywhere yet?
RF: Yes, I’ve been to go to Michigan, Michigan State, Valpo, Purdue, and IU.
Have any schools invited you to elite camp this summer?
RF: I’m going to go to Butler and Michigan camps.
What are your strengths?
RF: Mainly, shooting and ball-handling.
What are some weaknesses that you are working on?
RF: I’ve been working on getting to the basket more…finishing with contact, jumping into contact and finishing. I need to get stronger and gain some weight.
Do you think you will grow more?
RF: Yeah, I do. The doctor said my growth plates are wide open, so the doctor said I will likely be 6-8 or 6-9.
Have you started to think about college yet?
RF: I think about the campus and if I like it or not, but not if I’m interested in going there yet. It’s still too early.
Would you commit early?
RF: I’d like to wait to keep my options open to see to see where I would fit in the best.
