Crispus Attucks guard SinCere McMahon committed to Western Carolina today. The 2020 Indiana All-Star originally signed with Western Illinois, but the Leathernecks let Billy Wright go. After that, McMahon opened his recruitment.
McMahon had a splendid senior year. He averaged 26 points, 4.8 assists, and four rebounds per game. HIs shooting was off the charts as he made 45 percent of his 164 three-point attempts. He recorded those numbers while making Attucks a contender in 4A. In the outrageous Sectional 10, McMahon scored 32 points against Lawrence North, and had his Tigers in position to pull the upset. LN escaped with a 76-73 win.
Western Carolina offered McMahon last summer. When McMahon committed to Western Illinois, his offers were from those two schools. This spring, Purdue-Fort Wayne, SIU-E, Idaho State, Illinois-Chicago, and Appalachian State offered him.
This past season, Western Carolina went 19-12. Mark Prosser's team shot a lot of threes, made a high percentage of them, and played at a fast pace. McMahon should fit into that system well. Western Carolina plays in the Southern Conference with the likes of Furman, East Tennessee State, Wofford, UNC-Greensboro, and Mercer. It's a conference on the rise.
