Lebanon High School graduate and University of Indianapolis transfer Trevor Lakes has landed at Nebraska. He's the second Indiana native to make the D2 to high-major jump this year as Courvoisier McCauley committed to DePaul last week. (Lakes from his high school days)
Lakes averaged 15.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per game as a junior at UIndy. The biggest thing that stands out about Lakes is his shooting ability. At the D2 level, Lakes made 40.7 percent of his 577 three-point attempts. That's what makes him an attractive prospect for the high-major level.
In high school, Lakes drew D1 attention before first committing to Maryville University. He then changed his commitment to the University of Indianapolis during his senior year. In that senior season, Lakes averaged 22.5 points and 6.7 rebounds for Lebanon. Also, he shot 42 percent on 159 three-point attempts.
Unless the NCAA changes the transfer rule, which it is voting on soon, Lakes will have to sit one year before playing his final collegiate season. It sounds like the NCAA is leaning towards giving players a one-time transfer where they don't have to sit out. If that's the case, obivously Lakes will be eligible immediately.
At Nebraska, Fred Hoiberg is flipping the roster like he did with Iowa State. Indiana native and graduate transfer Kobe Webster is also committed to Nebraska. Pitt transfer Trey McGowens is also coming in along with Wisconsin transfer Kobe King. Hoiberg loves to change his roster via transfers and junior college players, and he is doing exactly that.
