Stan Gouard is off to a fast start at the University of Southern Indiana with commitments from Lane College transfer Tyler Henry and Barr-Reeve's Keegan O'Neill. O'Neill originally signed with Gouard while he was at UIndy.
Henry was a highly sought-after D2 transfer after averaging 15.6 points per game for Lane as a freshman last season. Henry is mostly a three-point shooter as he made 37 percent of his 187 attempts last season. As a freshman, he led the Dragons in minutes played. He should make an immediate impact for USI.
As mentioned, O'Neill signed with UIndy before the coaching change. Now with his flip, he gets to stay closer to home. In his final high school season, O'Neill had Barr-Reeve poised to reach another Class A state final. That was cut short with the pandemic.
USI is projected to have its top three scorers - Emmanuel Little, Josh Price, and Mateo Rivera - return next year. With the addition of Henry and O'Neill, the Eagles look ready for a big season in Gouard's first year.
