Lafayette Jeff guard Brooks Barnhizer (2021) committed to Northwestern today. Barnhizer had multiple power conference offers and plenty of other schools expressing interest.
Barnhizer had a great junior year for Lafayette Jeff. His play earned him a spot on the core Indiana Junior All-Star team. His production and development led to bigger offers and interest. This club basketball season would have seen Barnhizer receive intense attention from college coaches. Despite that, Barnhizer was still piquing the interest of college coaches. To that point, Yale offered this spring, and other major conference schools were researching his game.

On Father’s Day, Barnhizer decided to commit to Northwestern. It is the mix of academics and basketball that impressed Barnhizer. Although Barnhizer is a great basketball player, he is just as a good in the classroom.
Barnhizer told 247sports.com’s Brian Snow that it was a “40 year decision” as he feels that Northwestern will set him up for the rest of his life.
Butler was heavily involved in Barnhizer’s recruitment. Last fall, there were rumors of Barnhizer committing to Butler, but that, obviously, did not happen. Until his commitment, Butler was recruiting Barnhizer.
Brooks Barnhizer is poised for a monster senior year. Lafayette Jeff will have a few new faces with the graduation of Avery Beaver, Braxton Barnhizer, and Matt Jones, but Brooks will be up for the challenge.
