D2 Barry University (Miami Shores, Florida) snagged 2020 Lake Central guard Nick Anderson. The pandemic stalled Anderson's recruitment a bit as D1 schools were expressing interest at the end of the high school but unable to see him in person.
This season, Anderson proved to be one of the top shooters in the state. Indiana Basketball Source watched 12 Lake Central games through a combination of live and film this year. In those games, Anderson shot 47.7 percent on 111 attempts. Although he wasn't selected, Anderson had an Indiana All-Star season.
12-game shot chart for Anderson this season.
Prior to his commitment, Anderson had offers from Bethel, Tiffin, and a host of D3 programs. Prior to Barry entering the picture, Bethel was recruiting Anderson the hardest. He had D1 interest from programs like Furman. If the pandemic didn't happen, Furman likely would have offered Anderson. In the view of Indiana Basketball Source, Anderson would have been a difference maker at the D1 level behind his shooting ability and feel for the game.
Barry went 18-10 last season including 12-8 in the tough Sunshine State Conference. Last season, Chesterton alum Ky Palombizio was a freshman with Barry. He saw action in four games.
