(Blake Barker from summer of 2019)
Saturday, Columbus North and EG10 guard Blake Barker committed to Army-West Point. A week and half after Army offered, Barker decided to the Patriot League team.
Despite being a highly productive player, Barker flew under the radar of most colleges. Heading into his senior year, Barker is a three-year starter with over 1,000 career points. On 340 career three-point attempts, Barker is a 42 percent shooter. Outside shooting fuels his great efficiency. For his career, he has an effective field goal percentage of 57.
Army started its relationship with Barker when he was in eighth grade. The two sides maintained the relationship throughout his high school career. Army is hoping that shooting and efficiency will translate to the D1 level. The Black Knights have recruited Indiana hard. This season, Army will have Columbus North's Alex King, Bloomington South's Tucker Blackwell, Oldenburg Academy's Ben Kinker, and South Bend St. Joe's Mark Madden on its roster. Bloomington South's Noah Jager (2020) is heading to Army as well. Blackwell, Kinker, and Madden went to Army's prep school prior to enrolling at West Point. That option has been discussed for Barker but no decision has been made yet.
As long as there is a high school season, Barker, sophomore Cooper Horn, and senior Reese Harmon will be leading the way. Barker and Horn will be a great scoring backcourt. Both are excellent slashers and shooters. That will put plenty of pressure on opposing teams.
