The FORUM Tipoff Classic is always a must-see event, and this year is no different. The field includes 12 teams loaded with college prospects.
The event is set for December 12, 2020 at Southport High School. Like most things, attendance is a fluid situation. Streaming options are still being explored as well.
Perry Meridian v Carmel (12:30) - Perry Meridian features 2021 Butler commitment Jayden Taylor. The Falcons will face perennial power Carmel. The Greyhounds return Pete Suder, Charlie Williams, and Brian Waddell. All three are receiving D1 attention.
Franklin Central v North Central (2:00) - Jason Gardner takes over his alma mater and inherits 2022 point guard Leland Walker. Walker is a dynamic guard that is capable of a highlight on any play. Franklin Central is led by veteran coach Criss Beyers. The Flashes lost a couple players to transfer but FC will be tough to beat.
North Harrison v Barr-Reeve (3:30) - A match-up of club teammates - LT Hatton and Curt Hopf. Hatton recently committed to William & Mary. He's a sweet-shooting big that is fun to watch. Hopf had to sit out last season after transferring from Forest Park. Over the summer, Hopf proved his status as a D1 prospect. North Harrison also has 2022 guard Logan Mcintire. Barr-Reeve has Hagen Knepp and Brycen Graber around Hopf. This should be a fun game.
Southport v Gary West (5:00) - Entering the season, West Side is one of the most talented in the state. The Cougars are headlined by 2022 elite prospect Jalen Washington. His high school career has been limited by injury, but he is supremely talented. West Side also has D1 prospects Quimari Peterson, Chrishawn Christmas, and Mason Nicholson. Last year, Southport was led by 2023 prospects - AJ Dancler and Anthony Ball. Nickens Paul Lemba is also one to watch after not being able to play last year.
Silver Creek v Ft. Wayne Blackhawk (6:40) - This was the headline match-up last year as 2021 power forwards Trey Kaufman and Caleb Furst battled. It should be a great game once again this season. Furst is committed to Purdue, while Kaufman is being recruited by Indiana, Purdue, Virginia, North Carolina, and others. The supporting casts of each team are strong as well. Silver Creek has Kooper Jacobi and Branden Northern. Both are D1 prospects. Blackhawk Christian has shooters Zane Burk, Marcus Davidson, Callan Wood, and Jake Boyer. These are two of the best teams in the state regardless of class.
Lawrence North v Moeller (8:20) - Lawrence North led by DJ Hughes, CJ Gunn, and Shamar Avance take on Ohio powerhouse Moeller. The Cincinnati school is led by Indiana University commitment Logan Duncomb. Moeller also has 2022 high-major prospect Evan Mahaffey. The court will be littered with D1 prospects. It will be a game of contrasting styles as LN prefers uptempo and Moeller will bring the pace to a grinding halt.
