(Lincoln Hale as a sophomore)
The 2021 class continues to make college decisions. Here is a look at recent college commitments from the 2021 in-state class.
Last November, Linton-Stockton’s Lincoln Hale signed with
Indiana State but opened his recruitment once the Sycamores fired Greg Lansing. Now,
Indiana Wesleyan swooped up Hale as a late-spring signee. IWU continues its tradition of snagging possible D1 players to go to the NAIA level.
Kyle Mangas was the latest example of that, and he just finished an illustrious four-year career.
Bloomington South guard
Trevor Taylor is going to Olney Central.
Taylor transferred from Edgewood to Bloomington South for his senior year and made the most of it. As a duo with Joey Bomba, he led Bloomington South to a 4A semi-state appearance.
Joining
Taylor at Olney Central is
Evansville North’s
Chandler Moore. He averaged 17.6 points per game as a senior on 37 percent three-point shooting. He should be able to work his way into four-year offers while at Olney Central.
Sticking with the junior college theme, Gary West Side’s Mason Nicholson will attend Northwest Florida State College. New coach Greg Haier will try to get Northwest Florida back to its former glory. With physical development, Nicholson will see plenty of D1 attention over the next two seasons.
Nicholson’s teammate at West Side, Parion Roberson, is headed to
Purdue-Northwest. Roberson is a versatile wing that did a lot of the dirty work for the Cougars while providing a secondary scoring option to Quimari Peterson and Jalen Washington. He has the potential to make a significant impact there.
From the South Bend area, St. Joe’s forward Will Terry will attend Holy Cross. Terry was a workhorse inside for St. Joe’s. As a senior, he also stepped out for spot-up threes regularly. He should have an impact at that level.
Terry’s teammate, Jack Futa, decided to take a post-graduate season at Elevation Prep in
Fort Wayne. The big guard had many strong performances as St. Joe’s made the 3A semi-state. The extra year will give Futa a chance to develop a bit more.
Riley point guard Phillip Robles broke out during the second half of his senior year. He helped Riley advanced to the Regional championship game before bowing out to Gary West Side. Robles will walk on at
Purdue-
Fort Wayne.
Lawrence North point guard
Shamar Avance decided to commit to
Miami of Ohio. The 2021
Indiana All-Star picked up recruiting steam as Lawrence North made the 4A title game, but he committed to a program that recruited him hard for over a year. Avance has the tools to thrive in the MAC.
