Indy Heat Showcase: Part I

The Indy Heat Showcase brought the Indy Heat, Illinois Wolves, Grand Rapids Storm, and C2K Elite together for round-robin matchups in 2022, 2023, and 2024. This article is part one of the breakdown.

Fletcher Loyer torched the nets for Indy Heat 17U in the final game of the day. The Purdue-bound guard drilled six three-pointers in the second half against the Grand Rapids Storm to push IH to the win. He finished with 29 points. Loyer’s ability to get into his shooting motion after sprinting to a spot is impressive for a high school player. Even when he missed, it looked like his shot was going in. It was an outstanding performance in a close game.

Kebba Njie (LaLumiere 2022) improved significantly over the last year. The six-foot-seven center is explosive around the rim by using his long arms and sturdy frame to dominate. When he has space on the block, Njie finishes with touch going to either shoulder. He capped a few cuts and rolls with big-time dunks. He is one of the most improved players that I have seen this spring.

Max Burton (2022) displayed his shooting ability all day. He made four threes against the Indy Heat. Burton is a big forward (6’8”+) with a sweet-shooting motion. The Grand Rapids Storm product also moves well for his size. With his shooting ability, Burton should draw plenty of recruiting attention.

Ethan Dunn (2022) showed an inside-outside game for the Grand Rapids Storm. Size-wise, he matched up well with Njie, and Dunn had success on the block and around the rim. He is also more than capable as a spot-up shooter from the three-point line. Dunn has the tools to be a modern stretch five.

Jack Karasinski (2022) turned in an outstanding performance against his former team. The Grand Rapids Storm wing played with the Indy Heat 16U group last year. Saturday was the best that I’ve seen Karasinski play. He made outside shots, scored off the dribble, and defended well. At six-foot-five, he showcased his athleticism as well. It was a fantastic day for Karasinski.

Cooper Noard (2022) rained threes for the Illinois Wolves all day. Noard displayed a quick, consistent trigger and splashed outside shot after shot. He was the most significant bright spot for the Wolves against the Indy Heat.

Jaden Schutt (2022) started slowly against the Indy Heat but rebounded for a tremendous performance against the Grand Rapids Storm. The athletic, six-foot-five guard found his shooting rhythm against the Storm. With his size and athleticism, Schutt can find his shot against most defenders. He tallied 18 points in the blowout win over the Storm.

Dylan Arnett (2022) is easily mistaken for his Illinois Wolves teammate Braden Huff, but Arnett showed his skill set on Saturday. He is a big, strong post player that has excellent footwork. Arnett also showed touch around the basket and finished well. He was a consistent force for the Illinois Wolves.

Jaheem Weber (2024) is a big center for the 15U Illinois Wolves group that finished above the rim, showcased a projectable outside shot, and protected the rim. He bobbled a few rebounds and passes, but Weber shows great potential with his size, athleticism, and fundamental base. He will be a player to track in 2024.
