The IBCA Top 100 took place on Thursday at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis. The event failed to draw many of the elite prospects in the state like Trey Lyles, Jaquan Lyle, Trevon Bluiett, Bryson Scott, Alex Etherington, Brenton Scott, Jaylon Brown, Cole Murray, or Franko House to name a few. It was still a good event; it just lacked the star-power that it could have.

Here are a few players that stood out during the event.

Zak Irvin 6’6 SG Hamilton Southeastern/Eric Gordon 2013- Irvin did not dominate the offensive end in the games that I saw, but he controlled it defensively. He was in the passing lanes and blocking shots all night. I’ve been impressed with how well Irvin has been playing in July.

Austin Torres 6’6 F Penn/MBA Select 2013- He was very active and was highly productive with his length; put-backs and blocks for the most part. Torres did not display a wide array of offensive skills, but he is athletic and is pretty smooth with the ball. His energy and athleticism are his two best attributes.

Tre Boyd 6’5 F Anderson/Indiana Elite-Stars 2013- Boyd flat-out exploded in one game. He hit 4 or 5 3-pointers plus got to the rim a couple of times. He is a strong, wing that could be a beast at the D2/NAIA level.

Brennan Gillis 6’5 F Ben Davis/Eric Gordon 2015- Gillis played well and did most of his damage from the perimeter either by hitting outside shots or slashing to the basket and finishing. His perimeter game will need to continue to improve and become more consistent.

Derek Hinen 6’3 G Columbia City/Spiece-Whiteleather 2013- Hinen played extremely well, scoring in a variety of ways and was active on the defensive end. He looks like a nice small college prospect.

Michael Schlotman 6’2 PG Munster/SYF Players 2013- You have to pay attention to realize how good Schlotman is, but he is one of my favorite players in the class. He is tough, knows the game at a high level, quick, and can hit shots from the outside. Great point guard and demonstrated it at the Top 100.
