2022 Mt. Vernon High School and G3 All-Indy point guard Armon Jarrard announced his commitment to IUPUI on Sunday. Armon is one-half of the talented Jarrard twins at Mt. Vernon. Amhad has not announced his college decision yet.
Armon received D1 offers from IUPUI and Southeast Missouri State after averaging 12.8 points per game as a junior. Jarrard had major interest from many lower-level schools as well. He is an excellent outside shooter, plays the passing lanes well defensively, and distributes the ball, too. Leading to the offers, he was a consistent performer for G3 All-Indy this spring and summer.
As a junior, Jarrard shot 42 percent from three for Mt. Vernon. If he builds on that, Jarrard will have a huge senior year. His ability to create steals and turn them into points on the other end is another attribute that stands out. Even against top competition, Armon created steals consistently on and off the ball. His combination of lateral quickness and anticipation skills should help him thrive defensively at the next level.
Sources close to Armon's twin, Amhad, say he is close to deciding as well. Amhad picked up high-major interest from Purdue, Xavier, and others in July, but it sounds like he will pick a school that has offered him and recruited him heavily before July.
