(Connor Essegian from this spring)
On Wednesday, Connor Essegian (2022) officially announced his commitment to the University of Wisconsin. After taking official visits to Wake Forest and Wisconsin this fall, the Central Noble guard made his verbal pledge to the Badgers.
Essegian is one of the top shooters in the state, and he excels as an on-the-move shooter. The 2022 shooting guard sprints into a shot as well as any high school player. Essegian turns his shoulders as he begins his shooting motion, and his accuracy is excellent while doing so. Greg Gard and Wisconsin will put that strength to use.
Colleges littered Essegian with scholarship offers, especially over the last six months. In July with Indiana Elite, his recruitment hit a different level as schools like Creighton, Butler, Wake Forest, and Wisconsin extended offers. His final seven schools included Wisconsin, Wake Forest, Creighton, Butler, Loyola, Purdue-Fort Wayne, and Minnesota. Recently, it became clear that Essegian would pick the Badgers.
Central Noble has been fantastic with Essegian leading the way. Last year, the Cougars went 24-2 but were eliminated in the sectional by Churubusco. His sophomore year, when Essegian broke on the statewide stage, Central Noble recorded 22 wins and five losses, but Churubusco took the Cougars out of the state tournament that year as well.
Essegian, Logan Gard, and Ryan Schroeder will lead Central Noble this year. With the graduation of Caleb Furst, 2A north will be up for grabs this season. The Cougars have a marquee game against Barr-Reeve at the FORUM Tipoff Classic on December 11.
