Michael Schlotman committed to William & Mary on Monday night. He joins Bloomington North 2010 graduate Julian Boatner on the Tribe roster. Schlotman had offers from Davidson, Illinois-Chicago, Western Michigan, and San Jose State before making his decision. He told us in an interview back in June that he wanted to make a decision after the July evaluation period and before school started and he did exactly that.
He is not as well known around the state as a lot of other college prospects for a few reasons. He is not flashy and does not light up the scoreboard on a regular basis plus he played his club basketball with SYF, who rarely plays tournaments in the state.
Schlotman is a great defender and will have no problems adjusting to the college game on that end. Offensively, he is best when he is getting to the basket where he can finish or dish to teammates. Schlotman can knock down outside shots consistently, but is definitely a pass-first point guard. He seems to be a great fit with William & Mary and we expect him to have a successful career there.
