(Garwey Dual at the recent Pangos All-American Camp)
2023 Carmel High School and G3 All-Indy guard Garwey Dual announced his commitment to Providence College. Dual went from unranked and playing ten minutes a game for Carmel as a junior to a top 100 national prospect this spring. There are not many stories like that, but Dual's defensive ability and athleticism led to his incredible rise.
Dual recently took an official visit to Providence, and that trip solidified Dual's intent to play for Ed Cooley and the Friars. Dual saw his recruitment to continue tto expand throughout June. Butler offered Dual while he took his visit to Providence. SEC schools were going to enter the recruitment, but Dual found his home with Providence.
Dual moved from Houston to Carmel for his junior season. His all-around story is covered more in this previous Indiana Basketball Source article.
To begin June, Dual made the Top 60 game at the Pangos All-American Camp. He proved that his game translates against the best athletes in the nation during that event.
So far in June, Carmel has put the ball in Dual's hands more and let him create offense off the dribble. That is not the normal Carmel way, so it will be interesting to see if that makes it to the high school season. With shot makers like Sam Orme spacing the floor, it could be a tough offense to stop.
