New Palestine's Moses Haynes sparked a third-quarter run to push the Dragons by Zionsville at the 2024 FORUM Tipoff Classic. The teams were tied at the half before Haynes and Julius Gizzi created separation on both ends of the court. Gizzi finished with a game-high 28 points.
Gizzi and Zionsville star Maguire Mitchell started slowly, but the two found a rhythm in the second quarter. Mitchell could not miss and had 17 points by the halftime intermission. Gizzi was not far behind him with 11.
However, for the second straight Saturday, Zionsville could not get the offense rolling in the second half. The Eagles only shot 6-20 from three, with Mitchell making four of those.
By early in the fourth period, New Palestine had full control of the game. Haynes and Gizzi combined for 47 points on only 24 shot attempts.
Zionsville did not help its cause by going three-of-eight at the foul line.
Zionsville cut into the New Pal lead late, but the Dragons won 65-53.
