The last few weeks have been the slow time for basketball recruiting. Soon, college coaches will be able to attend open gyms and the recruiting activity will pick up once again. Last year, we were able to make it to many open gyms around the Indianapolis area and we will try to expand our coverage this year.
Here is an update on what has been happening in the recruiting world lately...
Trevor Thompson, 6'10" F/C, formerly of Ben Davis (2012) and now prepping at St. John's Northwestern Military Academy verbally committed to Virginia Tech. Thompson improved tremendously over the last year and his size and agility is hard to find. He also had an offer from Tennessee.
Mike Crawford, 6'5" SF Tipton 2013, has an official visit to the University of New Orleans set for next weekend (September 14th). He also expects to have an official visit to Yale September 21st. Crawford planned on taking an official visit to Stetson a couple weeks ago, but had it cancelled after they took a commitment from another prospect.
Jaylon Brown, 6'0" PG Fishers 2013, announced a top 5 last week of Ohio, Evansville, Wichita St., Miami (OH), and St. Bonaventure with St. Joe's also in the picture. He will visit Evansville this weekend for an unofficial and he visited Miami (OH) unofficially last week.
Nick Rogers, 6'0" PG Traders Point Academy 2015, will unofficially visit Mississippi and Mississippi State next weekend. Rogers has offers from Kent State and Northern Illinois.
Saikou Jallow, 6'3" G Bloomington North 2014, reports that he will take an unofficial visit to Toledo September 22nd.
Tyler Jenkins, 6'2" G Hamilton Southeastern 2014, went on an east coast unofficial visit spree over the Labor Day weekend. He visited Columbia, Penn, Drexel, and St. Joe's.
