Austin Torres saw his recruitment explode in July. He did not have a single college scholarship offer entering the month, but picked up a host of offers including Northern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, IUPUI, Navy, and Lamar. Torres committed to Central Michigan on Sunday night. "The coaching staff, players, and campus were all great. It was the perfect fit," Torres commented on what made him commit to Central Michigan.
He took official visits to Northern Illinois and IUPUI before making his commitment. Torres also had an official visit to Rice planned for September 28th. His official visit to Central Michigan is planned for the October 12th weekend.
Torres is a bouncy athlete that plays with a lot of energy. He is also long and built decently at this point. His skill set is still pretty raw but he makes up for it with his effort and athleticism. Torres has a lot of potential and could be a very good player in the MAC. In the MAC, he will be rivals with his high school teammate Leo Svete, who is committed to Western Michigan.
