Our top ranked college prospect in the state for 2013 made his college decision today. Demetrius Jackson picked Notre Dame over Illinois. It was long believed that Demetrius would pick the hometown school, but that was tested when Kansas, Memphis, and Louisville increased their recruiting efforts in July. Jackson had offers from Michigan State, Butler, Xavier, Kansas, Memphis, and Louisville among others. Rivals has Jackson ranked as the 27th best player nationally in the 2013 class. Jackson announced his decision on ESPNU but it was inadvertently leaked early.
Jackson is extremely quick plus he uses his body really well. He is very well built for a young player and he uses that strength advantage to get around defenders with ease. Jackson is a very good defender and plays with the intensity that is needed to excel at the next level. He's not afraid to go into the paint and rebound either. I really like his toughness. His outside shooting used to be a major weakness, but it has dramatically improved and he is now consistent from beyond the arc. Jackson will be a great player at Notre Dame.
