Thursday, we were able to observe an open gym at Hamilton Southeastern High School. They have Michigan-bound Zak Irvin along with a handful of other college prospects like Tyler Jenkins, Keegan Culp, and Eric Davidson to name a few. Here are notes on those players and more.

Zak Irvin, 6’5” SG 2013, the Michigan-commit started the day off slowly, but dominated late. He was hitting tough shots from deep by the end of the open gym session. He should fit in very well at Michigan.
Paul Furlin, 6’0” PG 2013, is mainly an outside shooter, but he can handle it a little bit. He also seems to score consistently when he gets into the lane, but he does not go off the dribble very aggressively. Furlin is a NAIA/D3 prospect.
Eric Davidson, 6’0” PG 2014, is likely HSE’s best shooter and that is saying a lot with their talented shooters. Can he create his own shot or set-up his teammates against high level athletes is a question that must be answered to determine what level he can play in college.
Tyler Jenkins, 6’0” PG 2014, had a very strong open gym performance. He is a good athlete and looks like he can be a good outside shooter. Jenkins has been a little inconsistent from the outside when we have seen him, but his form looks good. I would put him in the MM-/LM+ category right now.
Keegan Culp, 6’6” SF 2015, is a player that we spoke about during our Metro Indy Basketball Fall League write-up. He is moving better laterally and looks like a legit mid-major prospect now. Culp will likely be a role player this season for HSE. His shooting ability will be able to get him plenty of playing time.
Nick Wethington, 6’5” PF 2013, looks like he is improved from a season ago. He had a couple of nice finishes during the open gym. He is an NAIA/D3 prospect.
Wade Troeger, 6’3” SF 2013, came on strong late in the open gym session. He hit some outside shots and finished a couple of plays in the lane. He looks like he could be a solid role player at the NAIA/D3 level.
Mason Hankins, 6’0” PG 2014, is a player that we have not seen a bunch of so far and we did not get a good read on him during the open gym. It did look like he was a good outside shooter. Other than that, we did not see anything that popped out at us.
Justin Barksdale, 6’3” SF 2013, was the surprise of the open gym. He is a good athlete, strong, and tough. He challenged plays at the rim and he finished over defenders consistently. Barksdale is also a good student. He could be very good at the NAIA/D3 level.
Jack Kramer, 6’6” PF 2014, was another impressive player that we had not seen before. Kramer is a transfer from Lawrence North and he did not play last year. He rebounded well and is pretty skilled around the basket. His mid-range jumper had a pretty good touch to it as well. He is likely a D2/NAIA prospect with a LM ceiling.
Chris Ford, Tyler Janney, Ross Risley all play football but will contribute to Hamilton Southeastern this season. {/iACL}
