2021 Bloomington South guard Connor Hickman has continued to add to his offer list this spring. Indiana Basketball Source watched eight BHSS games this high school season to get a feel for Hickman's game and college projection.
Without spring or summer evaluation periods, schools still have to move forward with recruiting. In the last few days, Purdue has handed out a handful of 2022 offers. Indiana Basketball Source takes a look at those offers. (Pictured: Tae Davis from last spring)
Last summer, Gary West Side's Jalen Washington was the Purdue's first in-state 2022 offer. He was sidelined the entire high school season with an ACL tear. He remains the top prospect in the state as he has NBA potential. Prior to the pandemic, Washington was not planning on playing club basketball this season. He's only seven months removed from the tear.
This season, 2022 point guard Nick Klaiber helped Bloomington North notch its most wins since 2003-2004. Indiana Basketball Source takes a closer look at Klaiber's game and college projection. (Photo via Twitter.com/BHSNathletics)
As a sophomore, Klaiber posted solid numbers for a balanced BHSN team. He averaged 13.3 points, 4.1 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game. In the six games Indiana Basketball Source tracked of Bloomington North this season, Klaiber's number were right in line with his season averages.
When the IHSAA postseason was canceled, 2021 forward Kooper Jacobi was helping Silver Creek on its journey for a second straight 3A state title. Jacobi was second on the team in scoring and rebounding to Trey Kaufman. Indiana Basketball Source takes a deep dive into Jacobi's game and college projection.
During his junior year, Jacobi averaged 17.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game for the 25-2 Dragons. The Silver Creek forward is a career 80 percent free throw shooter. Despite that, he wasn't a three-point shooter until this year. As a sophomore, he was only 12-28 from deep in 28 games. Last summer, Jacobi added arch to his outside shot, and he became a threat this season. He still needs time and space, but Jacobi can make threes now. His shot still needs to be more fluid and consistent, but it has progressed well in the last 12 months.
2021 point guard Jace Kelly helped South Spencer to a 22-4 record and sectional title this year. Indiana Basketball Source dives into his game and college projection. (Jace Kelly on right via Twitter.com/Britton_Coach)
During his junior year, Kelly helped South Spencer become a top-10 2A team. The Rebels played a solid small-school schedule. In four games that Indiana Basketball Source tracked, Kelly averaged 15.3 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals per game. He did a great job of finding and facilitating shooters Michael Donoho and Kobe Bartlett.
