The Indianapolis City Tournament semifinals and final were pushed back due to snow. A few minutes into the final, it was apparent the championship game had been replaced by The Armaan Franklin Show.

He made his first five shots as Cathedral sprinted out of the gates. Franklin scored 14 of Cathedral’s 20 points in the first quarter. He was fantastic from the three-point line throughout the game, but the Indiana signee was in the zone to begin the game. He exploded for 23 points in the first half. Franklin ended up hitting six three-pointers in the contest.

Despite the great shooting from Franklin, Attucks was stride for stride with Cathedral in the first half. The Tigers trailed by five after one quarter and only seven points a minute before halftime. Jaiquan Edwards was a bright spot as he used his length to score over Irish defenders. He scored seven points in the first half on his way to 15 points in the game.

After being down 38-27 at the break, Edwards hit a three-pointer to start the half then Sincere McMahon scored a bucket to cut Cathedral’s lead to 38-32. Then James Franklin went on a personal 9-0 run. He started it with a basket plus the foul then two three-pointers. The Cathedral run extended to 18-0 as Justin Hensley added a couple three-pointers. James Franklin scored 12 points in the three-and-a-half-minute run.

The run pushed Cathedral’s advantage to 24 points. Attucks couldn’t answer that bell.

Armaan Franklin continued his great game in the second half as he rebounded, set-up his teammates, and defended at a high level. Franklin finished with 29 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, and three steals.

Cathedral ran away from Attucks, 78-48, for its third straight City Tournament title. It is the fourth consecutive and fifth overall championship for Jason Delaney.

James Franklin finished with 16 points. Justin Hensley added 12. Tayshawn Comer also had 12 points for Cathedral. Haven Montefalco and Ross Welch each had five rebounds. Isaac Farah had four points.

Jaiquan Edwards led Attucks with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Donavon Barnett had eight. Sincere McMahon and Jaden Tyson each scored five points.
