Westfield rallied in the fourth quarter at home Friday night to get a win over Hamilton County foe Hamilton Heights. Nic Depasquale led the Shamrocks with 18 points. (Pictured: Braden Smith via Kyle Atkisson Photography)

Westfield trailed for most of the game after the visiting Huskies got off to a fast start. Issiac Hickok was the focal point as he scored 13 of his 15 points in the first six minutes of the game, hitting three shots from behind the arc on as many attempts and getting a pair of layups in that stretch as well. Gus Etchison added five for Hamilton Heights as the duo accounted for all of their first quarter scoring.

The host Shamrocks would have to weather hot shooting from Hamilton Heights behind the arc, as the Huskies would hit nine three pointers in the first half. But Westfield would tie the game heading into the locker room, as their sophomore trio of Braden Smith, Nic Depasquale, and Cam Haffner would combine for 24 of their team's 35 first half points.

The hot hand would continue for the guests in the third quarter, as Heights would hit three shots from behind the arc in the early portion of the third quarter, one from Hudson Hochstedler and two from Gus Etchison. This allowed Heights to build a lead, but their hot shooting would fall off, giving Westfield a chance to get back in the game.

Heights would miss eight of their final nine shots from behind the arc. The hosts would get their first lead of the game at 55-53 on a beautiful pass from Braden Smith to Nic Depasquale for a layup. Depasquale, one of Westfield's talented sophomore class, would score eight of his team high 18 points in the fourth quarter. That sophomore class of Smith, Depasquale, and Cam Haffner came into the game averaging a combined 43 points per game. The trio would struggle, however, shooting 14-43 in the contest.

It looked as though Heights would be able to pull out a victory when Hudson Hochstedler took a pass from Camron Knott in the corner and swished a three pointer with just under 30 seconds to go to give the Huskies a one point lead. Westfield put the ball in the hands of Braden Smith, who wound the clock down before giving a pass to Cam Haffner in the corner. Haffner's three pointer would miss long, but Depasquale would gather the rebound and go up for the game winner. He was fouled on the attempt with 0.3 on the clock, and after a few timeouts, he would step to the foul line and make both free throws to give Westfield a one point advantage. The final inbounds pass was stolen by Westfield, giving the Rocks a one point victory.
