Via the IndyStar, Blackhawk Christian's Caleb Furst won the 2021 Mr. Basketball voting. Furst helped Blackhawk Christian win the 2A IHSAA boys basketball title this year to cap his prep career.

Furst is signed to play at Purdue University next year. Against a solid schedule, Furst averaged 21.4 points, 14.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.2 blocks per game. In the 2A state title game this year, his third-quarter performance pushed Blackhawk Christian to the win over Parke Heritage. As a sophomore, Furst turned in a dominant game against Barr-Reeve to help Blackhawk Christian cruise to the 1A championship. Before the pandemic canceled the 2020 state tournament, Blackhawk was a mass favorite to win the 2A title. It would have taken one of the biggest upsets that the state has seen for Blackhawk to be kept from another title.

Furst caught the eye of Indiana Basketball Source as he entered high school at the Crossroads Elite Invitational. The annual event attracts the nation's top incoming freshmen and sophomores, and Furst stood out in a loaded event. Here is Indiana Basketball Source's feature on Furst after that 2017 event.

For his career, Furst went 100-10 as a Brave. He tallied 2,067 points and 1,254 rebounds. Despite playing at the 2A and 1A levels, Blackhawk was moved up during his junior year due to the success factor, the Braves always scheduled a 4A-type schedule. Marc Davidson was not interested in padding wins. He wanted to prepare his team for the state tournament, and that is exactly how it played out. With Furst on the roster, Blackhawk won four sectionals.

Per the IndyStar, Trey Kaufman-Renn finished second in the voting. There was a decent distance between Furst and Kaufman-Renn in the voting. Third went to Blackford's Luke Brown. He was in the same votes received range as Kaufman-Renn. Brooks Barnhizer, Shamar Avance, and JR Konieczny received votes.
