SEYMOUR, Ind.--Jeffersonville against Evansville Harrison was the Regional game that I wanted to see most on Saturday morning. Jeffersonville is led by senior Darryl Baker (25ppg). Harrison has the Duncan brother of Ernie (2014), Everett (2015) and Stanley (2015). Harrison dominated Detroit Consortium when I saw them in December with their movement away from the ball.
Ernie Duncan got things rolling early for Harrison, and they jumped out to a 9-5 lead. Things started to change when Drew Ellis started to heat up. He hit a free-throw and a 3-pointer towards the end of the first quarter. Then Ellis exploded in the second period. The junior scored 19 points in the quarter. He had 23 points at halftime while Harrison only had 24 as a team. It was a great individual performance.
It was a rough game for Ernie and Stanley Duncan. Ernie finished 4-15 from the field, Stanley was 3-9. They did not get many easy backdoor opportunities like they normally do. Harrison's offense sputtered without the production of Ernie. He is the engine that makes the Harrison offense tick. It just never got running for him.
Darryl Baker was held in check by Harrison despite his 20 points and 11 rebounds. He was just 7-19 from the field and also had 5 turnovers. Jeffersonville was rescued by Ellis in the second quarter and then Myles Harvey in the second half. Harvey was scoreless at halftime but finished with 14 points.
Jeffersonville won going away by the score of 73-62. They will face Franklin Central in the Regional Finals at Seymour High School with the tip set for 8 p.m. Saturday (March 9th).
Everett Duncan finished with 18 points for Harrison.
