In a major recruiting victory for an NAIA program, Rushville's Jaret Sons committed to Grace College on Monday evening. Sons had Division I offers from IUPUI and Wright State prior to committing to Grace. Here is more on Sons and his decision.

Jaret Sons had a breakout first week of July. He shot the ball really well from the three-point line in front of many college coaches. It resulted in scholarship offers from Wright State then IUPUI.  Sons nearly committed to Wright State but the Raiders received a verbal commitment from another stretch four from Ohio.  Which meant that his scholarship offer had dried up.

There would have been many other opportunities at the D1 or small college levels but Sons knew Grace College was where he wanted to go after that.

Grace is so awesome! Coaches tell me all the time that I can be a great mid-major player, but I love the way I fit into Grace's system. I feel like I'm going to play a lot of minutes from the get go. No matter where I go, I'm going to keep developing and that's the best part.

It appears that the Grace coaching staff has major plans for Sons. "The plan is to build a championship team around me. They want me to be a match-up nightmare in the Crossroads League," said Sons.

Sons is a tremendous 'stretch 4' at 6-foot-7. His shooting mechanics are pure with a high release point. He has also added the ability to go off the dribble from the perimeter as well this summer. He should be a very good player for Grace for four years.

Grace College now has three members in the 2016 class. Braxton Linville of  NorthWood, Bennett Fuzak from Illinois and Sons. Grace was 23-13 in 2014-2015. The Lancers play in the tremendous Crossroads League with Indiana Welseyan, St. Francis, Bethel, Marian, Taylor, etc. It is one of the toughest NAIA conferences.
