Indiana Basketball Source spent Thursday at the adidas Gauntlet Finale.  Indiana teams and players fared well. Here’s a look at the action.

Indiana Elite-Central 2017 started off the event with a strong win over Team Arsenal. Kyle Mangas and Erick Shepherd led the way with 18 points and 17 points, respectively.  The game was the start of a great day for Huntington North shooter Hunter Hollowell as well. He had 12 points in the game.

It was a busy day for Indiana Elite-Central as they had to turn around and play state rival EG10 with Romeo Langford. EG10 established a defensive presence early in the game. Brian Keeton’s squad jumped out to a 15-5 to lead. Indiana Elite-Central fought very hard and made it a game through the first half. EG10 ended up pulling away late for the 66-49 victory. Langford didn’t have huge numbers in the game, but he dominated the defensive end. Wyatt Hughes had a big second half for EG10. Hughes finished with 15 points and eight rebounds. He did his damage with second half, outside shots.

Hunter Hollowell continued to play well. He gave Indiana Elite-Central in the second half. He is best as a shooter, but he did more than just hit shots. He was active on the glass and scored on a putback and cutting to the basket. He had 12 points in the game. Mateo Rivera started to get to the basket in the second half. Rivera finished with 11 points on 11 shots.

The Indiana Elite 2018 team has been playing very well all spring and summer. They continued to roll as they started the Finale. Bloomington South’s Chance Coyel shot the ball really well in Indiana Elite’s game against Upward Stars. Coyel finished with 14 points. Robert Phinisee was smooth like he normally is. He finished with 16 points on mostly plays going to the basket. He did hit a couple outside shots, though.

Team Harris began Finale play with a tough loss to Karolina Khaoas, 55-54. They bounced back with a dominating performance against Team Eleate in the evening. Xavier’s Chris Mack was on-hand along with assistants from Bradley, Michigan, Purdue, Western Illinois and others. Eric Hunter played well in the blow out win.

Indiana Elite-Central played a third game on Thursday night against a talented Stackhouse Elite team. Indiana Elite-Central beat the highly regarded team, 57-51. Hunter Hollowell scored 19 points on 6-9 shooting three-point range. He had six rebounds as well. Mateo Rivera had seven points and seven rebounds. Kyle Mangas finished with 12 points.

The main Indiana Elite 2017 team lost a close game to the Atlanta Celtics to start Finale play, 73-70. Indiana Elite had four players in double figures with Michael Ertel leading the way with 17 points. He went 9-12 the free throw line. Jermaine Couisnard added 14 points while Mark Albers and Cole Vanhandorff each had 11.

Indiana Elite 2017 bounced back in the nightcap to beat Just Win, 61-50.
