Zak Irvin was awarded the title of Indiana’s Mr. Basketball on Wednesday. Last year his teammate Gary Harris won the award. Irvin was the front-runner for the accolade all season. He was especially good early in the year. He put up monster numbers night after night as Hamilton Southeastern started off the season 14-1. Irvin will play for the University of Michigan next season.

McDonald’s All-American Demetrius Jackson came in second in the voting. He received 46 votes to Irvin’s 101. Jackson is headed to Notre Dame next year. His chances to win the award were likely hurt by the fact that he never made a state championship appearance and only played in the Indianapolis-area one time over his high school career.

Tipton’s Mike Crawford finished third in the voting. The Saint Louis-bound senior received 37 votes. Crawford scored 40 points in back to back Semi-State loses to Bowman Academy.

Northrop’s Bryson Scott finished fourth with 26 votes. The Purdue signee scored over 2,000 career points.
