On Saturday, Blackford's Luke Brown committed to Stetson University. The commitment was a surprise as Brown had plenty of scholarship offers with many of them in the Midwest. Instead, Brown is headed to Florida to play in the ASUN for Donnie Jones.

Brown has already had a storied high school career. Through three years, he has scored 2,061 points. If there is a full season and Blackford makes a tournament run, Damon Bailey's scoring record could be threatened. There have only been a handful of 1,000 point seasons in Indiana high school basketball history, but it has been done. Cloverdale's Jalen Moore and Park Tudor's Trevon Bluiett have accomplished it in recent years. 

Over the last few years, Brown has stunned crowds with his shooting. On top of his deep range, Brown has made 40 percent of his career 580 three-point attempts. When his 90 percent free throw shooting is added to the equation, there's little doubt that he will be a top-tier shooter at the college level. That's why schools like Ball State, Indiana State, Kent State, Purdue-Fort Wayne, Wofford, and many others extended a scholarship offer to Brown. 

This summer, Brown has been playing well for D1 Indiana. He is in a formidable backcourt with Jalen Blackmon and Lane Sparks. Blackmon is coming off an ACL tear and is limiting his games, but Blackmon and Brown have played really well together. Unfortunately with the pandemic, there have been limited opportunities for the two to share the court. 

For Stetson, Brown is the first member of its 2021 recruiting class. The 2020 class was a large one for Donnie Jones with five players. In his first year at Stetson, Jones went 16-17 but 9-7 in the ASUN.
